Randall Rosenthal

The 2006 "Best in Show" award winner at the Smithsonian Craft Show at the National Museum, Washington D.C., Rosenthal's trompe l'oeil wood carvings have been amazing the art world and casual viewers for over a decade.  There is no attempt to hide the fact that his pieces are wooden.  In fact, most pieces maintain some bare wood visible to the eye.  But Rosenthal has been able to incorporate his early career as an accomplished painter, into his stunning realist wood carvings, with an end result that is pretty hard to believe!
