John Hartley
John Hartley’s rich Pop Art images evoke the world around us but also beckon to an inner world back when we were kids and played with and collected toys. Says the artist of his work: “My paintings combine two passions: making art and collecting – linking the past, present and future through inanimate objects, memories and relationships. Figures and object are dramatically lit, some intentionally blurred to obscure positive identification, yet remaining vaguely familiar. My aim has always been to create intellectually and emotionally significant statements of the soul.” Hartley has had several one-man shows and has private collectors throughout the country. His art reflects his many interests: the human figure, toy collecting, social issues, and more. He actively promotes art education, and encourages young people to develop creative talent and thought. And he continues to explore new mediums and push his art to its fullest potential.
