Delos Van Earl

The “Viscos” series, by Delos Van Earl, is an abstract reflection of natural images portraying elements such as rain, wind, flowers, tree branches and rivers.  Each piece has up to 20 layers of oil enamel, along with embedded found objects, all of which are layered and systematically sanded out for a completely smooth surface texture.  Each, one-of-a-kind work will take up to 8 weeks to complete the process of revealing what is underneath- Van Earl’s additive and reductive process blurs the line between painting and sculpture.   As in the beauty of nature with its random order and asymmetrical sense of balance, Van Earl’s work is energetic, wild, and colorful.
