What I create with my hands comes from my heart. I see life in shapes and colors. I gather an abundance of inspiration from the things I see every day- buildings, bodies, gardens, vistas and far off aerial views. I begin each painting by sketching and making marks, using charcoal, crayon and pencil until an appealing composition emerges. I apply layer after layer of acrylic paint, often finishing with oils. Working to solve the puzzle, I strive to get colors and shapes to dance and move, to get along playfully and amicably. Using scrapers, sticks, brushes and blades, I interrupt the layers, revealing sweet and often unexpected hidden gems. I’m constantly covering and uncovering, adding and taking away, until that magical feeling of spirited completeness arrives.
