Herb Williams-

Williams is one of the only individuals in the world that holds an account with Crayola. Using Crayola crayons exclusively, he creates original sculptures that may require hundreds, even thousands of crayons. William’s artwork holds world records with Ripley’s and Guinness. His sculptures have been placed in children’s hospitals, corporate lobbies, museum walls, and the White House. He received a B.F.A. in sculpture from Birmingham-Southern College, and apprenticed under two professional sculptors. Upon graduation he immediately went to work at a bronze foundry in West Palm Beach, FL. Then, in 1998 Williams moved to Nashville. He received The Joan Mitchell Foundation Museum Purchase Grant, the Next Star Artist Award, and was sponsored by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2011.He received his first public art commission in 2017 to create “Skylake” for the Smith Springs community center, and has just been awarded another public art commission to create six larger than life sculptures for the International Concourse at the Atlanta airport.
